Motorcycle collides with pedestrian in Bury leaving pensioner, 77, in ‘serious’ condition – witnesses sought

A Bury motorcycle collision yesterday morning between a biker and a pedestrian has left a pensioner in hospital with a broken leg.

The motorbike was travelling along Bury New Road in the direction of Bury, near to the junction with Vale Street, in Radcliffe shortly after 9.40am when a 77-year-old woman stepped from the pavement to cross the road. 

The motorcycle and the woman collided which caused her to fall to the ground – she suffered a serious injury to her leg and was taken to hospital for treatment.

The 19-year-old rider also fell from his bike and suffered minor bruising. 

PC Mark Potter from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “The woman has suffered a broken leg and she remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition. 

“If you were in the area and saw the collision or any events leading up to it I would urge you to get in touch with police.”
