Cristiano Ronaldo could make a sensational return to Manchester United after growing tired with Florentino Pérez’s transfer policy, claims former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon.

Calderon claims the Portuguese winger has become disillusioned with life at Real and could make a much-speculated return to Old Trafford if United come in with a big money offer in the summer.

Calderon. who engineered Ronaldo's world-record £80million move in 2009, claims Ronaldo’s relationship with Pérez has hit rock bottom after the summer departures of Xabi Alonso and Ángel Di María.

“My impression is he is fed up with the policy of the current president,” Calderon told talkSPORT.

Calderon says tensions began to deteriorate when Mesut Ozil was sold to Arsenal in September 2013, though claims it is not the first time Ronaldo has grown frustrated by the club's transfer activity.

“When he came [to Real Madrid] with [Arjen] Robben he thought he would be a good colleague for him in the team [but then he was sold],” Calderon said.

“Two years ago it was [Gonzalo] Higuain sold and he didn’t like that.

“Last year he thought it was a mistake to let [Mesut] Ozil leave and the last straw was selling Xabi Alonso and Angel Di Maria this summer.”

Even with the new season just starting, reports merged that United are preparing a mega-money offer to lure Ronaldo back to Old Trafford, as Louis van Gaal looks toward a new era of dominance.

Calderon, who resigned shortly after signing the United star following allegations of vote-rigging for the confirmation for the financial budget, says it would be a no-brainer for Ronaldo to return to the club after enjoying a hugely successful six seasons there.

He added: “When I signed him in 2008, I remember he said he was grateful to Manchester United.

"He had a marvellous time there, he likes everything. It is a really great club."

Ronaldo gave the biggest hint yet that he may soon be donning the red jersey when he refused to rule out a return to Manchester, speaking ahead of Real's pre-season clash with United in Michigan last month.

Asked whether he could ever see himself returning to the club he joined from Sporting Lisbon as a fresh-faced 18-year-old, Ronaldo said ‘anything was possible’.

Ronaldo said: “Of course, it was one of my favourite clubs, Manchester, everyone knows that every time when I speak about Real Madrid I should speak about Manchester United, I love it there.

“I was 18 years old, I win everything there. The people treat me like a god there so I appreciate it and in the future nobody knows.”
