Fabregas is ‘living the dream’ at Barcelona: Manchester United transfer hopes dashed by Catalan club’s boss

Barcelona’s midfield maestro Cesc Fabregas has told the Barcelona manager that it is ‘his dream’ to remain at the club.

The former Arsenal captain is reportedly the subject of a £26million offer from Manchester United, who are struggling to attract talent to their maligned midfield.

However Barca boss Tito Vilanova told a press conference today that Fabregas is happy at the Camp Nou.

“I know he has received offers from other teams,” he said.  “But Cesc has told me he wants to stay here.

“He has told me it is his dream to stay with Barcelona.”

Despite rumours persisting that Fabregas is disgruntled with the amount of playing time available at Barcelona, Vilanova insisted that there is no foundation to the reports.

“He doesn’t want to go to other teams for money reasons or playing time,” he added.

“He knows there is competition for places here, but his decision is to stay. I am relaxed about the situation.”

United’s offer is currently under consideration by the Barcelona hierarchy but it is understood that it is way below their valuation of the player.

The chances of signing the player remain bleak for the Reds, but should Barcelona accept their offer it is thought that Fabregas might re-consider his options.

However, Vilanova remains calm. He said: “It is a good sign that the club gets offers for our players.

“It shows we have players other teams want. But Fabregas wants to stay.”
