Calling all hashtaggers: Manchester charity invite photographers to tweet snaps of delicious dinners

Manchester’s hungriest hashtaggers are being encouraged to snap and share photos of their favourite meals on Twitter and Instagram to be recreated and to raise money for charity Forever Manchester.

The Community Foundation for Greater Manchester has launched a social media-led campaign in partnership with TNQ Restaurant and Bar.

Members of the public are encouraged to post images of their favourite or most impressive meals on their Twitter or Instagram account, tagging @TNQRestaurant and @4EVERManchester using hashtags #mymanchestermeal and #forevermanchester.

Forever Manchester Chief Executive Nick Massey said: “People’s fascination with what others eat, and with sharing their favourite meals, has never been so popular – with Instagram giving our obsession a new outlet.”

Mr Massey and TNQ Restaurant and Bar’s Head Chef Anthony Fielden will then select a dish from the entries at the beginning of every month for six months, starting October 7.

The chosen dish will be recreated by Anthony and will feature on TNQ Restaurant and Bar’s menu for a month. Every time the dish is ordered, 50p will be donated to Forever Manchester.

Jobe Ferguson, owner of TNQ Restaurant and Bar, said: “Anyone is welcome to enter the competition, whether their favourite or most impressive dish is an intricate Heston Blumenthal-style dish or simple beans on toast! We’re looking forward to see the entries and have them recreated in our kitchens.”

The campaign is aimed at tapping into a growing trend of Instagram food photography. Entries can be food created by the entrant or by friends and family.

Money raised from the initiative will go to helping Forever Manchester continue their work supporting local people and groups across all ten Greater Manchester Boroughs.
