Stalker tries to snatch girl, 12, on her way home from school in second Manchester abduction attempt

By Danielle Wainwright

A man attempted to abduct a 12-year-old girl in Blackley on Wednesday after following her on her way back from school and putting his hand over her mouth.

The incident occurred on Wednesday September 18 at around 3.30pm when the girl was walking along Pike Fold Lane on her way back from school.

She noticed a man following her and a short time later the man approached her from behind and put his hand over the mouth causing the girl to scream. The man then fled towards French Barn Lane

Police do not believe the incident is linked to the attempted abduction of an 11-year-old girl from Hyde last week.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Peach said: “The victim has been left badly shaken up, although thankfully she was not hurt.

“We would like to reassure the community that incidents of this nature are rare and we are doing all we can to find the man responsible.

“We also understand that there may also be concern given the incident in Hyde, but it does not appear as though there is any link.

“We are also appealing for witnesses.”

The man is described as being white, between 17 and 25-years-old, of slim build, about 6ft tall and with a bald head. He was wearing a short sleeved top and jeans.

Anyone with any information should call police on 0161 856 3925 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
