Transactions in Pret a Manger Manchester were up by 36% in just one month following the release of Club Pret

Pret a Manger’s subscription service led to a spike in transactions when it was introduced as Club Pret last year.

Club Pret launched in April 2023 and is a subscription service in which users pay £30 a month to unlock up to five free barista-made drinks a day as well as 20% off the full menu.

If you take advantage of the subscription and reach the limits of it, you could come close to making your monthly payment back in one day.

A data set released by the Office for National Statistics shows the number of transactions within different Prets located all over the country from London to Scotland.

The graph created shows that transactions in store during March 2023 compared to just one month later in April 2023 (when Club Pret was launched) increased by 36%.

The popularity of Club Pret has been an obvious catalyst for the instant climb in transactions all over the country, including Manchester.

As seen in the graph, transactions in Manchester grew by over 150% from the beginning of the data set in March 2021 to the end of the recorded transactions in October 2023.

COVID-19 does play a part in the lack of transactions during this time, but the introduction of Club Pret also holds a large amount of responsibility for this.

The release of Club Pret has not only increased transactions in Manchester but is also an obvious trend in branches all around the country.

The subscription is used over 1.25 million times a week with subscribers transacting in Pret on an average of 28 times per month compared to a non-subscriber who transacts on average only twice a month.

The Managing Director UK and Ireland of Pret A Manger, Clare Clough, said: “Not only is Club Pret a key enabler of our growth as a business, but more importantly it brings great value to our customers, helping them to save even more from our menu.

“We are pleased to see that Club Pret has also been a big hit in Manchester. We have over ten shops dotted around the city and trade is now consistently above pre-pandemic levels.”

At the end of November 2023, trade in Manchester was at over 100% of pre-pandemic levels and the first launch of Club Pret has seen over 29 million redemptions.

Club Pret is available in the UK, France and the USA with further sites to open in various locations across these countries.

In Manchester, there are currently 14 Prets open with most of the transactions being made by Club Pret members.
