Revealed: Manchester’s 8 weird and Wonderful Xmas Dinners

The Christmas Markets may have closed their twinkly gates for another year but fear not – you can still get your mitts on some of the city’s wackiest festive treats.

Here’s eight of Manchester’s best that will leave you wondering why you ate dry turkey and Brussels sprouts for so long.

1. Christmas Roast Fondue, Bøck Bière Café

The Belgian inspired restaurant has become something of a viral sensation after it merged two of the greatest things ever created – roast dinner and fondue.

Now, they’ve taken it a step further and introduced a Christmas version with sausage and cranberry stuffed turkey breast, pigs in blankets, rosemary roasties, glazed veg, apple and hazelnut stuffing balls, Yorkshire pudding waffles and a huge fondue of gravy for dunking.

2. All I want for Christmas, Yorkshire Pudding Burger, Joshua Brooks

First, Manchester saw the iconic Yorkshire pudding wrap. Now, we’ve been blessed all over again with a Yorkshire pudding burger.

The All I want for Christmas features a turkey burger, sage and onion sausage patty, pigs in blankets, truffled parsnips, and lashings of cranberry sauce wedged between two giant Yorkshire puds.

3. Brewski Cristmas Platter, Brewski Chorlton

Just when we thought we’d seen it all – now you can get a deep fried Crimbo dinner served with a bubbling, baked camembert.

Brewski has created a platter of perfection with a giant battered pig in blanket, deep fried stuffing balls, turkey goujons, baked camembert, deep fried roasties, gravy and Cumberland sauce. Good luck fastening your jeans after this…

4. Mary, Joseph and Baby Cheeses, Crazy Pedro’s

When you think of Christmas dinners, pizza wouldn’t usually spring to mind.

But, in true Crazy Pedro’s style, the pioneering pizza parlour has managed to create a weird and wonderful combo – a doughy mozzarella feast with turkey, pigs in blankets, sage and onion stuffing, honey roasted parsnips and cranberry sauce.

5. Son of a Nutcracker, Almost Famous, Great Northern

Known for serving up gigantic burgers that could even stump Bruce Bogtrotter, Almost Famous has created a whopping Christmas feast.

Feast your eyes on a gooey cheeseburger, with BBQ spiced sausage stuffing patty, buttermilk fried turkey, slaw, bacon and cranberry jam, JD cola BBQ sauce and brandy butter peppercorn mayo.

And that’s not even all of it…

Piled sky high on top of the bun is a sausage roll, sausage stuffing, bacon and cranberry jam, chorizo, cheddar, BBQ spice and of course, a pig in blanket. Epic.

8. The Christmas Hanger, Smoke Yard,

Why have a regular roast on a plate, when you could have it hanging in the air?

Smoke Yard has flipped the Xmas dinner on its head with a grilled turkey, chipolata and pork stuffing hanging kebab, dripping onto a Yorkshire pud full of honey roasted parsnips, Brussels sprouts, cranberry and apple cinnamon compote and a good old pot of gravy.
