International Women’s Day marked by tours to celebrate ‘change-making’ women

With International Women’s Day (March 8) fast approaching, events are being hosted around Greater Manchester to mark the occasion and celebrate women’s achievements.

One such event is an inclusive ‘walk for women’ tour around the city.

Manchester City Council will be hosting the walk on 4 March, where it will commence outside Manchester Cathedral at 12:30pm.

Fresh Walks, led by tour guide Emma Fox, are celebrating change-making women through their tour of Manchester’s streets.

The hour and half long walk will begin at 12:30pm on March 8 outside Manchester Central Library. It will culminate at Dutton’s in Albert Square for a lunch.

Throughout the walk, there will be insights of Manchester’s history that will spark interaction and conversation among guests.

Participants in the walk will need to pay £15 to join in, or £25 if they wish to enjoy a spot of lunch afterwards.

These walks are a perfect way to celebrate women’s equality, as they pay homage to many inspiring women who have succeeded in the fields of politics, science and art.
