Woman breaks ankle fleeing from attacker who punched her in face – police renew hunt for Wigan suspect

By Danielle Wainwright

The hunt for a Wigan man suspected of violently punching a woman in the face causing her to break her angle as she fled from him is being renewed as police launch a fresh appeal for his capture.

Daniel Rigby allegedly assaulted the 24-year-old woman after an argument in Higher Ince on Saturday July 13 just before 3am. The woman then fled in fear and broke her ankle trying to scale a fence.

Detective Constable David Bunce said: “We have launched a number of enquiries to trace Rigby and despite being one of GMP’s most wanted offenders, we still have not had that vital piece of information to help find him.

“It is vital that we speak to Rigby in connection with a violent attack on a young woman.”

Rigby has known links to Hindley, Platt Bridge, Ince and Wigan town centre.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
