Masked robbers threaten Salford social club staff with crowbar and knife as customers watch in shock

By Danielle Wainwright

A gang of robbers armed with a crowbar and knife threatened staff in front of customers at a Salford social club and fled with cash yesterday.

The men stormed into the building on Chandos Grove at around 11.10pm and forced their way into the locked building and threatened staff in full view of customers.

The men demanded money and fled dropping some of the cash while making their way toward Gore Avenue.

Police believe that the incident is linked to one that happened a short time earlier at 10.55pm at a social club on Liverpool Street, Salford, when staff saw a gang of three men attempting to force their way into the building unsuccessfully.

Detective Constable Susan West, based at Pendleton Police Station, said: “The staff and customers at the social club were left terrified after being confronted and threatened late at night by three masked men wielding weapons.

“Thankfully no-one was injured during this incident and the three men were luckily not able to gain entry to the first premises it is believed they tried.

“We are keen to hear from any members of the public who were in the vicinity of Liverpool Street and Chandos Grove at the time of these two incidents and who may have seen these men. Or if you have any other information that may assist us with our enquiries, then please get in touch.”

Anyone with information should call police in Salford on 0161 856 5360 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
