Snacks snatch: Sandwich robbers with baseball bat terrorise Swinton store staff for cash

By Danielle Wainwright

A robbing duo barged into a Swinton sandwich store this week and threatened staff with a baseball bat before fleeing with cash.

The incident occurred at around 2.25pm on Monday when two men entered Snacks on Moorside Road armed with a baseball bat.

They then interrupted where the owner and two other female members of staff were tidying up in the back of the store and demanded cash.

They then fled with the day’s takings and may have had access to a white Audi parked on or near to Roughlee Avenue.

Detective Constable Des Nellany said: “The three women were not hurt but were left understandably shaken and the owner, having worked hard all day, has also lost a day’s takings.

“These two men did not think twice about intimidating the women and if anyone knows anything about who they might be we are eager to hear from you.

“I also want anyone with information about the white Audi car that was parked on Roughlee Avenue at the time of the robbery to call me.”

One robber was described as white, of stocky build, about 6ft tall with black eyebrows and blue eyes. He was wearing a balaclava, black jacket and black jeans.

His accomplice is described as white, of stocky build, around 5ft 10in to 6ft tall. He was also wearing a balaclava, grey hooded top and 3/4 length blue camouflage pants.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 5097 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
