Aliens, electro magnets or the apocalypse? Chilling ‘War of Worlds’ noises heard in sky over Manchester

By Danielle Wainwright

Is it the coming of the apocalypse, some sort of alien communication or just the work of electromagnetic currents?

Whatever the theory the chilling trumpet-like sounds heard coming from the sky as far as Kiev, Canada and Manchester has sparked a fierce debate to its origins.

And the latest incident recorded from Blackburn, Lancashire, last month proves that the mysterious noises are not confined to major cities but have been heard in smaller towns.

The noises were first documented in 2011 with several more recordings appearing on YouTube throughout 2012 and 2013 with claims that the sounds were the work of High Frequency Active Auroral Research – a deep sea communication device.

Another, possibly more plausible, theory explains that the sounds are harmless electromagnetic noises emitted from auroras and radiation belts with US geologists claiming that ‘micro-quakes’ are to blame because of an increase in activity around the ring of fire.

In GeoChange Journal, Geophysicist Elchin Khalilov and his team analyzed records of sounds and found that most of their spectrum is not audible to humans.

“What people hear is only a small fraction of the actual power of these sounds. They are low-frequency acoustic emissions called acoustic-gravity waves; they are formed in the upper atmosphere,” he said.

“There can be quite a lot of causes why those waves are generated: earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, hurricanes, storms and tsunamis, however the scale of the observed humming sound in terms of both the area covered and its power far exceeds those that can be generated by the above-mentioned phenomena.”

Yet conspiracists and religious figures have painted a much worrying picture and are adamant that the noises could signal the end of the world or ‘The Second Coming’.

“War of the worlds! Aliens are coming! Just a matter of time…..” Lindsay Marie Donaldson posted.

Facebook user Steven Place said: “These sounds are the trumpets being blown by God’s angels. This ‘man’ will have the answers to everyones problems. Please people just come to Jesus you don’t have to go to church or anything special. You don’t even have to tell anyone. Just save yourselves before it’s too late and you don’t know how.”

Numerous references have poured in through social media sites citing St. Paul’s letter of I Thessalonians 4:16, which states that the trumpet of God heralds the Second Coming of Christ.

Furthermore Revelation prophesizes that trumpets signal the seven angels of heaven descending on earth to bring pain and destruction.

“And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets.” Revelation 8:2 warns.

“The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.”

But lesser religious minds have rubbished this theory but instead claim it is the work of aliens that are making the noises.

UFO researchers are also claiming that listening to the noises are harmful to our heads with many videos posted on Youtube warning that the sounds will ‘stay in your heads’.

Yet whatever the reason, the source is still unknown and Fox News and CBS News reported that Clintonville, America, yet another victim of the phenomenon, spent around $7,000 on a private engineering firm to figure out what was happening.
