Meet the Mancunians celebrating the Coronation in style

Throughout the day, Mancunian Matters caught up with a wide variety of people turned out to celebrate the Coronation of King Charles III.

One man took his enthusiasm to another level, as he segwayed around Manchester with an inflatable dinosaur on his back – complete with its very own crown.

For others, the occasion was a chance for people to come together.

Sophie, speaking in Piccadilly Gardens, said: “I love the pageantry. It brings everyone together.

“It’s really lovely to see everyone coming together. Everyone’s got their flags and their hats and their bit of cake.

“I think it’s really important since the pandemic to get everyone together again, and have something to look forward to.

“Even though King Charles is 74, I think he’s very modern. He seems to really care about the environment.”

Elsewhere, Sally from Buckinghamshire told Mancunian Matters of her unique way of celebrating the momentous occasion – by participating in a cheese crawl.

We’re not sure what a #cheese crawl is, but it sounds like a great way to celebrate the Coronation! #royalfamily #manchester

Karl Fursey from Cumbria turned up to Manchester dressed in a Union Jack themed outfit, complete with a flag embroidered blazer, tie and top hat.

As the saying goes…Manchester, we do things differently up here.
