The top dog: Irlam dog rescue centre crowns its first monarch to raise money for expansion

As the whole country prepares for the coronation of King Charles III the pooches at Dogs4Rescue have crowned their very own king in an attempt to raise money for expansion.

Dogs4Rescue in Irlam have crowned King Stuart I as their first ever monarch today at their own coronation ahead of King Charles III’s tomorrow.

Fans joined the coronation via Zoom to watch King Stuart I get crowned in his velvet robe and golden sceptre.

The self proclaimed top dog has been the centre of attention at the Dogs4Rescue centre for some time according to staff.

Dogs4Rescue is an independent dog rescue that allows the dogs to live kennel free whilst stimulating them physically and mentally via exercise and socialisation before they move onto their forever homes.

With no external funding Dogs4rescue rely entirely on donations to keep their rescue centre going.

Emma Billington, Dogs4Rescue centre director said: “We are in the middle of an unprecedented rescue crisis with healthy dogs dying every day. We must do all we can to help.

“Every rescue space is like gold dust now. The sooner we can open the doors  and move our long term sanctuary and rehabilitation dogs to the new site, the more dogs we can save at our Irlam site.”

King Stuart I is attempting to raise £50,000 over the coronation weekend towards the interior of the new dogs’ log cabin at Rescue World, the Dogs4Rescue second site.

The Royal pup has previously raised £450,000 to buy the second site and the materials to make the new cabin watertight.

The new cabin will house 20 more rescue dogs, this will allow the Irlam branch to free up life-saving spaces.

Dogs4Rescue intends to become a one of a kind sanctuary for the ‘dogs no one wants’ that can offer a sanctuary and rehabilitation.

They are currently on track with their dreams and are underway with phase 1 of their new build, which includes a large communal dog log cabin and secure 2 acre adventure playground.
