Ribena gets added dose of ‘Bury’: Local family win competition to redesign 75th anniversary bottle

By Danielle Wainwright

A Bury family have become part of Ribena history after winning a design competition to feature on a new 75-year anniversary bottle in October.

This is the first time that Ribena have asked the public to redesign the bottles label and the Morley family are delighted to have won the once-in a lifetime experience.

The family came up against fierce competition with more than 140 entries judged by a five-strong panel headed by ex-Blue Peter presenter Katy Hill.

The winning design from mum Lisa, dad Richard and daughters Hattie, 17, and Lulu, 14, impressed the panel of judges with its creativity and exuberance – including Ribena berries jumping out of a gift-wrapped box.

Mum Lisa said of their win: “We’re so delighted – we can’t wait to see the bottle on-shelf! The design was a collaborative effort between us all and it’s amazing to receive this recognition for our design.”

Judge Katy Hill said: “I’m so impressed with the one the Morley family ‘made earlier’!

The winning family also received a holiday and 20 runners-up get a year’s supply of Ribena squash.

“There were so many amazing designs – it was such a tough decision! But all of us on the judging panel loved the Morley’s concept – it stayed true to celebration – and we loved the funky use of different materials,” said Katy.
