The family of a 21-year-old man, who was killed in a Denton brawl, have paid tribute to their ‘fun loving son’.
Police were called to Manchester Road shortly before 3am on Sunday June 7, after residents alerted them to a large fight involving between six and eight men.
Dominic Doyle was rushed into hospital, but later died from stab wounds – a post-mortem revealed.
Describing him as the ‘life and soul of a party’, his family paid the following tribute in his memory: “Dominic Jay, known as Dom, lived with his Mum and Dad.
“He was a mummy’s boy with a large extended family. He was fun, caring, loving and a cheeky chappie who was loved by everyone who knew him.
“Dom’s friends will describe him as a brother, fun loving and the heart and soul of the party.
Two other men had sustained serious injuries when officers arrived onto the scene.
Last night an 18-year-old man from the Audenshaw was arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody for questioning.
A boy aged 15, also remains in police custody after being arrested on suspicion of murder however no further action is to be taken against a 21-year-old man, who has been released without charge.
Dominic’s family said: “He had a heart of gold and would help anyone.
“His last comment on Facebook was, ‘love my life, wouldn’t change a thing. I have the best Mum and Dad and the best group of mates.’
“In Dom’s own words, ‘we live for the nights we can’t remember with the people we never forget’.
“Sleep tight our boy.”
Detective Chief Inspector Ian Crewe from GMP’s Major Incident Team said: “We have carried out extensive enquiries into the circumstances surrounding Dominic’s death and are providing all the support we can to Dominic’s family, who are understandably devastated at the loss of their loved one.
“We are still appealing for any witnesses to come forward to assist detectives in this investigation and are specifically asking for anyone who was either at or in the vicinity of Hughes’ pub on Manchester Road in Denton in the early hours of Sunday morning to please get in touch.”
