Woman sexually assaulted on top floor of bus travelling to Trafford Centre – CCTV of suspect released

By Ben Butler

A CCTV image of a man suspected of sexual assaulting a woman on a bus travelling from Manchester city centre to the Trafford Centre in June has been released.

The incident happened on Wednesday June 26 between 1.15pm and 1.45pm when a man went to the top floor of a bus and sat behind the 25-year-old victim as it travelled down Portland Street towards Princess Street.

The man then subjected her to a sexual assault in which the woman moved seats to get away before he got off the bus at Stretford, across the road from Frescos Cafe.

Police constable Nageen Mustafa said: “This woman was extremely shaken by what happened to her and reported the incident to police when she got off the bus.

“We have issued a still of the suspect from CCTV, which is of good quality, and we are hoping that members of the public will be able to assist us in identifying this man.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police at Bootle Street station on 0161 856 3221 or Crime stoppers on 0800 555 111.
