Man spends ALL NIGHT in Wigan tree, refusing to come down for more than 13 hours after ‘deportation’ threat

By Mancunian Matters Staff

A man in Wigan who was refusing to climb down from a tree has now decided to come down – allowing roads surrounding his perch to be re-opened.

Reports were made at 8.40pm last night that the man had climbed up the tree on Platt Fold Road, Leigh and refused to climb down.

He was there all night, before eventually coming down at 12.10pm this afternoon after lengthy negotiations with police.

He has now been detained under the mental health act.

It is believed he was in the tree in protest over being deported.
