By Danielle Wainwright

A high-speed police chase in Stockport left two men seriously injured as a stolen people carrier collided with a 4×4 last night.

A Renault Scenic, which had previously been reported stolen, was pursued by police shortly before it crashed into the Toyota Land Cruiser on Stockport Road just before 9.15pm.

Two passengers of the Toyota suffered minor neck injuries while the two men travelling in the Renault were taken to hospital – a 33-year-old for a serious arm injury and a 27-year-old for facial damage.

A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of theft and taken into police custody for questioning.

In line with procedure the police officers have both been suspended from driving duties while an investigation is carried out.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0161 856 4742.
