Now this is The Voice! Manchester-based burlesque vocal sensation set to wow millions on BBC One show

A Manchester-based jazz and blues singer will be dominating TV screens on Saturday night in a bid to wow BBC One’s The Voice coaches.

Viewers will see Kiki DeVille, aka Kristianne Robinson, sing in front of the formidable judging panel of Kylie Minogue, Tom Jones, Will.i.am and Ricky Wilson.

The South Australian-born songstress revealed that her decision to bite the bullet and audition was down to a number of factors including reaching a milestone birthday, self-acceptance… and Facebook.

She told MM: “My Facebook year in review came up back last January and I saw one post that said I was definitely going to have one last craic at The Voice.

“I turned 40 this year and I finally accepted that this is who I am, I’m good at what I do and it felt like the time was right.”

The burlesque belle tackled Paloma Faith’s hit single Stone Cold Sober and gained praise across the board from the coaches including from pint-sized pop princess, and fellow Aussie, Kylie Minogue.

“Kylie said my performance was beautiful, it can’t get much better than that. It was amazing meeting her, I’m a huge fan and she’s a showgirl and so am I!

“Being an entertainer is enormously important, I want people to feel something and enjoy themselves and that’s what it’s all about.”

Kiki said: “I’d never felt more at home on the stage and as it went quiet I took a deep breath and told myself ‘I can do this’.

“I really didn’t know how it was going to go but I had a plan, felt in control and had a great song.

“The crowd were amazing and as soon as they were allowed to make some noise it was incredible, absolutely indescribable.

“To be on that stage in front of four incredible coaches was amazing – opportunities like that don’t come across that often in life, I feel so lucky.”

Eager viewers will have to wait until the show airs this weekend to find out whether Kiki is snapped up by one of the judges and is through to the next round.
