Teenager charged after 16-year-old boy’s neck slashed with glass bottle in Bury town centre

A teenager has been charged following the stabbing of a 16-year-old boy in Bury town centre on Saturday.

The 17-year-old boy has been charged with a section 18 assault and is due before Bury Magistrates in connection with an attack on a youngster who was slashed with a broken glass bottle.

Another two 17-year-old boys have been arrested and bailed until October 24 pending further inquiries.

Police were called to Wylde at around 11.05pm following reports that a teenager had been stabbed in the neck.

The boy was in a serious but stable condition and is now making a good recovery in hospital. 

Detective Inspector Caroline Ward said: “Although we have made three arrests, I would urge any witnesses who may have witnessed an altercation between the teenager and a group to come forward.”
