Man dash! Manchester’s male shoppers set for last-minute Christmas gift buying frenzy

By Tim Hyde

Christmas eves down the ages are characterised by a clutch of panicked men frantically dashing from shop to shop in the desperate hope of buying their loved one the perfect gift before closing time.

But for those who want to be a little bit more organised this year McArthurGlen Designer Outlet at Cheshire Oaks have organised a ‘man dash’ day on December 23 where chaps can get all their shopping done in one fell swoop.

Brian Handley, centre manager at McArthurGlen Designer Outlet, said that the outlet was the perfect place for last-minute shoppers to get all their presents under one roof.

He said: “We have an abundance of men in this area who want to find the perfect present for their loved ones but often end up leaving it too late.

“During the man dash, it is a great opportunity for all those last-minute shoppers to come to the outlet and buy gifts for all their family and friends in one place, and in one day.”

Research conducted by Cheshire Oaks revealed that 40% of men so-called ‘me-gift’, buying themselves three or more gifts instead of buying for family and friends, while only 28% of women admitted they were guilty of doing the same.
