It rings True: Manchester United announce partnership with Thai telecommunications corporation

By Reece Lawrence

Manchester United have announced a three-year partnership deal with leading Thai telecommunications company True.

The agreement, which expands the club’s commercial enterprise in Asia, will make True the Old Trafford club’s official mobile partner in Thailand.

The corporation’s pay TV division, TrueVisions, will also become MUTV’s official broadcaster in the country.

Richard Arnold, the club’s managing director, said: “When considering our partners, the club likes to ensure the company in question shares many of the same attributes that have allowed us to grow into the world’s most recognised team.

“True is a company that demonstrated many admirable qualities, itself crediting courage and the ability to take on new challenges as the key to its success.”

With United set to embark on a pre-season tour of Asia under new manager David Moyes, True will also be a match sponsor for the Bangkok leg, against Singha All Stars on July 13.

Established in 1990, True Corporation has more than 27million customers and is Thailand’s only fully-integrated communications service provider.

Its mobile service, TrueMove H, was also the first to launch 4G LTE in the country, and has won the Readers Digest Trusted Brand Award for several years.

Mr Arnold added: “Since forming in 1990 it has continued to grow with the fast-paced telecommunications industry to become one of the best in its territory, proudly being the first to embrace many new technologies.

“Our new partnership is set to follow suit and provide our 20million loyal and passionate Thai followers with exclusive content and footage, bringing them closer to the club they love.”
