Shameless! Father of Adnan Januzaj slams Belgium boss’ hard-line stance on Manchester United star’s future

By Marios Papaloizou

Manchester United star Adnan Januzaj’s father has reacted angrily to the international tug-of-war developing over the future of his son after comments made by Belgium manager Marc Wilmots.

The young star is eligible to play for a host of countries including Belgium, Albania, Serbia, Turkey, Croatia, and England.

After a spectacular debut for United, Januzaj is being targeted by several nations but Belgium coach Marc Wilmots has taken a hard-line stance on the matter.

“It is impossible to negotiate with me,” he said.

“The boy was born in Belgium, should he say that he wants to play for Belgium – from there, there is no haggling. I’m not going to play that game.

“The kid is available? He wants to play? Then perfect, okay, show me.

“If you’re at the top level in Manchester or elsewhere, show me your skills and if I need you I will call. I make no promises, to Januzaj or any person!”

However, this no nonsense approach from Wilmots has not gone down well in the Januzaj camp.

“This is shameless,” Januzaj senior is quoted as saying to Belgian media.

“We never reacted on selections, phone calls or letters from the Belgian FA.

“They are requesting his selection, not us. Wilmots’ remarks won’t make it easier now. We are angry about these comments.”
