Mona-go: Money bags Monaco make offer for Manchester United’s tricky winger Nani

By Marios Papaloizou

Talented but inconsistent winger Nani may be saying ciao to Manchester United – as money-laden Monaco are thought to have made an offer for the unpredictable star.

The 26-year-old, at his best, is a match-winner as evidenced by his stunning highlight reel.

However, after six inconsistent seasons at United, Monaco have now opted to try and entice the player to move to the principality in order to reignite his career.

Monaco’s sporting director Vadim Vasilyev confirmed interest but remained tight-lipped when discussing the hot and cold-blowing star with French newspaper L’Equipe

“We had made a proposal,” he said. “He is a very good player but, for now, there are no discussions.”

Despite Monaco’s interest in Nani it is reported that the players wage demands will be a stumbling block to any negotiations.

As a result Vasilyev is in no rush to reveal his hand.

“We have already changed our team quite a bit, and we also want to provide opportunities for our youth players,” he said.

“[But] there’s still time to make more changes towards the end of the transfer window, if necessary.”
