LG takes on BT: Manchester charity celebrate 15th birthday with new name

A Manchester LGBT charity have celebrated their 15th anniversary by embracing change and adopting a brand new name

The previously titled Lesbian and Gay Foundation (LGF) will now be known as the LGBT Foundation, after its decision to focus increased efforts on promoting equality and justice for bisexuals and transgenders from August 2014.

Paul Martin OBE, the chief executive of the charity, explained his excitement about the change of direction and believes it reflects their work and purpose better than the LGF.

“Today is a really exciting day for all of us here at the LGBT Foundation and for the LGBT communities,” he said.

“We’re not only changing our name from The LGF to LGBT Foundation, we’re also changing the way we approach delivering services to everybody in the lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans communities.”

The LGBT Foundation plans to offer much more culturally sensitive and inclusive services in the future.

He added: “LGBT Foundation will build upon the proud tradition of inclusivity from The Lesbian & Gay Foundation, building firm foundations for the future.

“We’re incredibly excited about the potential this change provides us, especially in terms of the range of services this will allow us to provide and the diverse range of people we will be able to engage with.”

The charity helpline number has also been changed during the evolution of LGBT foundation.
